The Women Who Captured Junior Kimbrough

Yancey Allison, a Como Mississippi photographer hit Junior’s Chulahoma location in the early 1990’s and returned again in the late 90s. She is a personal friend of David and Kent Kimbrough’s. Recently through the wonders of digital photography Yancey has been able to pull images out of the darkness and print photos never seen before. Yancey photos capture numerous faces in the crowded smoky club.

Lauri Lawson was a friend of Junior Kimbrough’s. In the late 1980s Lauri was a frequent contributor to Living Blues Magazine.
Her photos grace the cover of Junior Kimbrough’s classic LP ALL NIGHT LONG.
